You probably heard that Titus has been in Chinese preschool for about six weeks now. I'm sure you're curious about it, so I plan to describe it more and show you a few pictures. First I thought you might like to see the 'report card' of sorts, which goes home every month.
Based on a 1, 2, or 3 star rating, Titus is pulling a 49.75/100 gpa in preschool. Is that passing?
This month's areas of evaluation:
- Greets the teacher and is happy to go to preschool.
- Uses simple words to describe a picture.
- Mimics the teacher during dance time.
- Naps nicely and doesn't bug the other kids.
At the bottom of the page, the teacher commented:
Our little friend Tai-de has done very well this month. Although he just entered preschool he can do everything well. Keep working hard next month.
The next page has a section for the parent's comments. This is what I wrote, and I will give you a prize if you can tell me what it says. Leave your translation in our "reader response" link below.
I recognize a few of the charachters :) Of course, I don't have a clue what it says!! Maybe if there is time in the morning, I'll show Kate.
ReplyDelete(did I comment to you already that a Chinese friend that has been living in Hutch temporarily left her Good Book with us? It has renewed Kate's interest in Chinese quite a bit :) - I honestly can't remember if I told you)
It must be fun knowing how to write Chinese characters!
ReplyDeleteOk, here is Kate's try:
ReplyDeleteline 1 - "8"? "Happy"man
line 2 - china...good(well)
line 3 - "1" !
By the way - your handwriting looks beautiful!
(she worked on this for 90 minutes or so... now she is off to do something else! She was on Nciku and looking in her books, though - she was really stuck on the character that looks like a old-fashioned 3)
Ok, so Dan had to get in on this and ask his Chinese friend, KB, to translate :) (I call that cheating :) ) Anyway, thought I'd share since I think Dan wants to know how close he was: Here’s the translation :
ReplyDeleteFrom parents :
Thank you to the teacher who has shown great care and concern. Since Tyler has attended kindergarten, we felt that Tyler has grown up a lot. His Chinese has improved a lot. For areas that Tyler has not done well, we will teach him to be better. We request that the teacher will continue to give Tyler more challenging tasks.
(of course, it's Titus, not tyler :) )
clearly, Frogmama's family WINS!
