It's Christmas Eve! Our home is glowing and cozy, our bellies are satisfied with pizza, many storybooks have been read, candles burned to the end, chickens prepped, boys likely dreaming of hot-tub swimming tomorrow, Drew hobbling around and cringing with soreness from flying over the handle bars and somersaulting onto the pavement during his bicycle-commute home tonight.
(A pair of pedestrians stepped out onto the street in front of him, there was no time to think, he braked. Jr high girls were untouched, Drew was intact and so was his computer and our three pizzas.)
Drew is working tomorrow morning; I'm going to an open house at Jonathon's preschool. Then we'll all catch a cab to our friends' home for the remainder of Christmas Day! On Saturday we'll host a party here, our tradition, for young-adult friends who grew up in the orphanage.
Sometime in the immediate future I need to finish coursework for two classes. Semester ends early January. So forgive me if I'm not blogging these next couple weeks -- must. finish. papers.

ReplyDeleteI remember people doing that to me all the time while running. The see me, they're looking at me, then they take the step at the last moment. At least I wasn't on a speeding bike. I'm glad he's ok.
