They're gone.
Saying goodbye is awful. You feel hollow and sick for half a day.
Peace comes softly.
But you still miss 'em. The hollow sick feeling resurfaces intermittently for the next year or so until you can touch their faces again.
And why do I live here again?
Peace, peace, attain to that still and quiet place where you trust God.
Recall, 'He Himself is our peace.'
I will be still.
"Hollow" is a good way to describe the feeling. Thinking of you in a special way today. Asking that His promises are renewing peace in your spirit. Praises on the scholarship!
ReplyDeleteHi Drew and Rachel,
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I work for the same organization you guys do/maybe did at this point, in Vietnam. We were given your blog info when we first were considering coming and have enjoyed following you guys journey since our initial blog meeting. I just wanted to tell you thank you for the encouraging post- we have been in Vietnam since March and today was a bit tough, your blog was a great reminder of the source of Peace. Just in case your wondering, people are reading and we find a great deal of encouragement from your posts and view of the world.
Thanks,
Ira
I had a wonderful dinner with Mike&Jen last night and heard all about their wonderful time with you all!
ReplyDeleteThose family members across the ocean feel that same "hollow" feeling when saying goodbye. We also find our quiet place of peace in His loving arms. It is only by His grace that we find strength and wholeness in the lonely times.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy your blog!
