Oh my goodness! I love this kid -- MIKE ADDINGTON! Michael Isaac Addington. Four years old. He is an amazing person. My mind dwells on this boy, growing into man, and I marvel at all the gifts and personality God crafted into one person. Drew and I want to be parents who guide Mike to realize his unique God-given niche. Nobody can be you but you Mike! Nobody but you can do the things you will do!
Delayed gratification was not a part of this day's celebration -- after scrambled eggs with vegetables, it was birthday cake for dessert! Drew had to work late that day, so he went in late creating a special morning space to kick off Mai Mai's birthday with his personally-chosen yellow chicken in a top hat. (From the bakery of course, we didn't mess around with homemade cakes either.)
Pool party!
With our family friends, Noah & Naomi and their two little girls climbing out on the left there. Pearl was celebrating her 2nd birthday!
We brought along a little buddy from the Butterfly Home who also goes by the name Michael -- the sweetheart in the blue cap and orange shorts next to Drew. I wrote about Little Michael's first big swim for the Butterfly Home blog, check that out here. It was our privilege to accompany Michael through this formative milestone of going to the pool with a family. Watching him play happily made me weep a few tears, pondering all the healing he has and is experiencing.
Mai Mai received a couple gifts which he thought were spot-on.
A box of Cheerios!

This classic wooden toy is inspiring architectural creativity and a wave of forgotten memories in Drew and me. Lincoln Log sets have now been in our families for three generations.
And an exciting parcel all the way from the United States of America!
Mai Mai said, "Thank you! I love new books."
