Yet another bizarre skill acquired by expat Third-Culture Kids: solo operation of skype as preschoolers.
I arrived home from teaching VBS around noon, the guys had been home with Auntie Wang. "Mom! We were talking on skype with Mandie Gu-gu!"
They opened just about every program on the computer, hopped on skype and called her up. Which was perfect because, A) she is engaged to be married to Dan as of yesterday, B) it's Mike's birthday today. Both are worthy occasions for one's premiere sneaky independent skype conversation.
Mandie liked it.
Drew was at work Rachel on a walk, these two were in their room with the lights off supposed to be napping they said and they called their auntie on the other side of the world and made her feel like a million dollars! They said they just wanted to see goo goo Mandie and say hi. My heart melted. We talked they giggled, and I smiled. Was able to wish my Big 4 year old Michael a happy birthday! Talk about what he got and what he did! They showed me their AWESOME Lincoln logs and they showed me what they built! That was a special 10 minuetsI will not forget! It ended with Titus saying MOM in a certain tone and Michael shutting the computer screen! I'm sorry if I screwed up their rest time. But at the same time I'm not cause as I thought hey I'm the auntie what their parents don't know won't hurt them! but this was too good not to share! Love those boys!!!
You know what we like? Dan. Mandie and Dan. Married.
He's gonna be our bro! Our uncle! Think about what this means. Dan is in our lives for life. Could not be more thrilled about a lifetime union of Mandie and Dan.
Dan, thank you for committing your whole life and care to Mandie. We're gonna hold ya to that promise dude. And thank you for already being the kind of uncle who would sit on a giant ant with nephews.
