Nurturing Young Lives

We are ever thankful for this cheerful neighborhood preschool where our boys can play with friends, learn how to be students, and form trusting safe bonds with teachers. This past semester the boys were in class Monday through Thursday 8:30am - 2:30pm.

Chinese kids spend three or four years in preschool/kindergarten before starting first grade at age six or seven. Titus has completed 3+ years, and he's got another year ahead so he can begin first grade just as he turns seven in September 2015. Our school has a brilliant practice of keeping the classes and head teachers together for all three years, so Titus has been with beloved Mrs. Zeng and Mrs. Gao for that long. Mike just finished his first year, and has at least two more years with his Miss Li and Mrs. Tan.

It's been such a sweet deal. Of all the many graces we have received while living in China, this one touches my heart deeply.

School's out for summer as of Friday.

Boys' basketball camp began today, coached by the preschool's P.E. teachers. Titus, who had apparently been previously frustrated with his dribbling abilities, was excited to tell me he realized he just needed to pat the ball faster.

VBS at Chinese church also began today and it was such a pleasure. Junior high kids are my students M-W-F for the next two weeks.

Aaaand now we are literally out the door to Butterfly Children's Hospice to meet Drew! go!
